Mounting the intercoolers
Now, at last, the final component of the engine tune-up has arrived. See below how the Greddy intercoolers compare
to the stock units.
The install procedure was a pretty straight forward operation. I've heard of people doing it without taking off the fascia
but it adds more pain than it relieves.
The right side intercooler is easier installed than the left one due to clearance problems.
Here is a picture of the new piping in place:
On the left side you need to turn the carbon canister a little bit to allow the pipe at the bottom to point slightly more
forward cause the IC piping runs along the side of it.
I also had to bend some small metal pipes going from the carbon canister, to allow the IC to go closer towards the center of the car.
The rubber tube going to the straight pipe on the IC has to be shorted as well.
Here is the picture of the installed left IC:
And here's the other one:
I didn't use the stock air guides case of the pour fitment and lack of my free time... :)
I just plugged the screw holes with the supplied screws and some silicone.
I would like to make some new air guides that fit better later on (maybe this winter?).
After a short test round I was now able to go up to 17psi without any signs of detonation.
There was some slight misfire though... I have to lower the gap on the spark plugs, we'll see if that helps.
