Status Report 16 October 2002
The first thing that happened this year was the installation of BIG brakes. When I say BIG I mean HUGE!
14" brake discs with AP 6-puck calipers.
These proved extremely efficient at the Karlskoga Raceway (Gälleråsen).
Another thing that I tested while on the race track was my Shift At Will system. What a feeling! Full control at last. Almost as fun as the manual transmission but a bit
quicker...
The performance of my car even drew newspaper attention, as there were journalists from the Bilsport present. Bilsport is the biggest sportscar magazine in Sweden.
Here is a picture of me that they published.
Before going to the track I installed a second transmission oil cooler.
The tests on the race track showed that it's not big enough though.
I even mounted a custom made panel between the headlights to let more are in to aid the cooling.
Right now I'm working on a measuring and logging system for A/F ratio, exhaust temperature, manifold pressure,
MAF-voltage etc.
This will be a tremendous help when tuning the ECU and will be the second product of ESS Racing.
Stay tuned!
